Cantón Goicoechea
San José

Goicoechea became a canton in 1981 with Guadalupe as its designated government seat. Goicoechea was named after a distinguished Franciscan priest Friar José Antonio de Liendo y Goicoechea. The early settlers made their homes in what is known today as Calle Blancos, the first road in the area. The capital city of this cantón is called Guadalupe.
